Cornerstones: A Passionate Journey with Leslie Thomas
Nestled in the peaceful countryside of Sherkston, Ontario, Cornerstones is more than just a small farm—it’s a place of transformation, healing, and growth.
Our mission is to create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can explore their personal journey through equine facilitated learning. Led by Leslie, whose methodology is marked by empathy, inclusivity, and a deep commitment to personal development, Cornerstones offers a unique approach to learning that goes beyond traditional coaching. Her background includes a lifetime with horses, 10 years working with vulnerable populations in homelessness and addictions and eight years as an EFL coach. Leslie's education includes a B.A in Psychology, Social Service Worker Diploma and certifications in EFL practice including The HERD Institute and Equusoma Level 1 - Horse Human Trauma Recovery. Leslie combines theoretical concepts with hands-on experience, inviting participants to engage with horses in ways that foster self-awareness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal connection. Each session is carefully customized to meet the individual’s needs, ensuring that participants not only gain insight into their own behavior but also develop practical tools for navigating life’s challenges.
The horses play a central role in this process, providing non-judgmental feedback, helping individuals identify patterns, break down barriers, and ultimately build stronger, more confident relationships with themselves and others. Participants leave with a greater sense of clarity, empowerment, and emotional resilience—tools that can be applied to both personal and professional life.
At Cornerstones, we believe in the transformative power of horses and the deep, often life-changing connections they help foster. Here, we walk beside you on your journey of growth, one hoofbeat at a time.

In Loving Memory...
While no longer with us in the physical world, these souls continue to have a meaningful impact on the work we do.
“Horses are incredible teachers of forgiveness, acceptance, and unconditional love.” – Shannon Knapp.
Our horses come from all different backgrounds and each have a unique personality. Each member of the herd contribute to the program in their own way.
They offer healing and compassion. Whether it's through gentle nuzzles, patient listening, or simply standing by in silent solidarity, our horses have an innate ability to connect with people on a profound level.
Together, they form a tapestry of healing and hope, offering countless individuals the chance to experience inner growth and healing. Our clients often leave with a renewed sense of peace, having been touched by the gentle grace and enduring strength of our beloved herd.
